So far I haven't written a word on my Sipadan trip? I got too busy being sick and going on another trip to Florida. I didn't have time or energy to do the trip writeup. A few words would summarize the whole trip.
Basically it was a crazy trip with a crazy dive profile by a group of crazy divers.
For four consecutive days we had on average five dives a day. On our second day a few of us had our wrist computers locked because we skipped our decompression stop (we weren't supposed to have decompression stops in the first place). Gosh it was 20-something minutes for me... We still had beer that evening, just less, and more water. Then on the third day, I left my wrist computer in my room and postponed my deep dive training to the fourth day. We dived slightly more conservatively on the third day. On the fourth day we began with a deep dive to 40m. Then on our second dive my instructor and I went into the Turtle Cave. We recorded 143 minutes for that dive! With around half an hour for decompression (again!). We missed our third dive of the day because of the extra long second dive. Then we went on as usual for the rest of the dives.
On the fifth day dives weren't included. We thought we should have more rest so we all just slept in. I felt dizzy for the next x number of days and I always had to manually equalize my ears every once in a while. I don't know if that was the onset of my upcoming flu that got me sick for a week, or if that was a result of our aggressive dive profile. When I was sick from the flu in the beginning, I really did question myself if I was suffering from DCS. Well, at least now that I'm back from more diving in Florida and I've taken a couple of flights, I can rest assured that I'm fine...
A video documentation of our trip is in production right now. It'll be posted here as soon as the video is ready. :)
