Pisco > Paracas & Islas Ballestas > Ica > Huacachina > Nascas

Some quick facts since I don´t have time to type it all out. Hope I´ll have time to fill it in later.

- Every Spanish keyboard seems to be different!!

- I still haven´t figured out how to type I don´t have to browse in Spanish, but I have to communicate in Spanish!! It´s kinda fun. And I have to type in the Spanish keyboard which is pretty annoying when it comes to symbols. I still haven´t figured out how to type ¨@¨ on the keyboard yet!

- We set off for Paracas and the Islas Ballestas at 7:15am. Then took the speed boat to watch wildlife. Lots of birds viewed. Unfortunately I don´t know the names. I think pelicans was one of them. Around 6 to 7 bird species sighted on the islands, though there are 218 (I hope I remember correctly) sighted in the entire Peru.

- Also saw lots of American sea lions (not seals!) and penguins.

- Very nice boat ride, although I think I got a tan from it.

- Back to Pisco, took the Soyuz Peru Bus to Ica and arrived at around 1pm.

- Had a quick, local lunch near the bus stop in Ica. We didn´t know how or what to order so we just pointed and things and it turned out okay. I think my Spanish vocabulary has improved by 200% already. :P

- We went to buy our overnight bus ticket from Nasca to Arequipa for Good Friday, it turned out all the decent buses from Cruz del Sur were sold out. We were left with only most economical bus... I hope the seats will turn out okay because we´ll be spending our night in it for 10 to 12 hours.

- Forgot completely about the Museo Regional in Ica and took the taxi to Huacachina´s Hotel El Huacachinero where we rested for a bit for the Buggy ride and sandboarding in the afternoon.

- My friend tried to book our room in Arequipa by phoning in. We were prepared for some diaster in our conversational Spanish but it turned out okay - because they spoke English!! :P

- Had our dune buggy ride up huge sand dunes (4:30 to 6:30pm)!! It was really fun! They drove fast! If you´re into roller coasters, dune buggy´s the thing for you! The sand dunes were 400m above Huacachina. We also went sandboarding. I´ve never snowboarded before so I didn´t really have the skills. For the steeper runs I just went down on my tummy... It was really fun!! I also learned an extra Spanish term "miedos", meaning scary! Then we went over one dune to watch the sunset. It was amazing! Hmm, for some reason, I smelled marijuana from the Israeli guys on the next buggy... Hmm cravings, eh... They´ve been travelling in South American for 5 months and were about to go home next week.

-Took a quick shower at El Huacachinero and took the taxi back to Ica to catch the bus to Nasca. Turned out we were too early for the 8:45pm Soyuz bus so we went to the decent food place next door in order not to get mugged and to fill our hungry stomachs. We thought it was a fast food place, but it was a restaurant specialized in roasted chickens. The chicken was really good but the fries were less than mediocre.

- Arrived in Nasca (Hostal El Mirador), spent a night here, and now ready for breakfast!

- Another update coming up soon!
