A friend will be visiting as soon as Dec 15 and staying over for a week! In order to add some furniture to my place, I went furniture shopping again today. I've bought my first piece of furniture! It's a glass dining table with four black chairs [P.171] from Ikea, for only HK$599! What a deal! It's not the prettiest or coolest table I've seen. But its price performance (appearance) ratio is unbeatable! I think the next piece of furniture I'll be getting will be the TV bench, though I won't have a TV for a while after I move in because I'm taking my parents' big old CRT TV and they're not ready to hand it over yet.
So. I'm going to have the maid do the first round of cleanup this Wednesday. On Thursday, my old bed will be delivered. Then the delivery guy will help me make an exact measurement of the size of the bed needed for the master bedroom (space is really tight and I might not be able to get a standard-sized bed). I will then order my bed, which will be ready for delivery in around two weeks. By Thursday, I should also have made up my mind whether I'll get a stylish looking TV bench or a simple and cheap Ikea one [P.64, LINVED TV Bench, white] (I have to make up my mind quick even before I'm getting a TV because the 28% off sale on the stylish one ends on Thursday! Perhaps I'll get an LCD TV after waiting too long for the CRT. :P Nah. I don't watch enough TV to justify for a HK$10,000 investment.) The sofa is going to take the longest to decide on. Today I found two reasonably comfortable leather sofas that were really inexpensive. The only problem is the measurement, and the fact that I don't know if I should get leather sofas with my two (mainly just Smokey, really) cats hanging around. Still debating. I'll worry about the curtains last, when I go do my shopping in Shenzhen after I know what my furniture will be like. I'll then buy two ceiling lamps in Shenzhen as well.
Then I'm pretty much all set on furniture for now! I plan on getting a glass closet for displaying some neat collections of mine (which, ahem, are still missing :P). Then I'll need a microwave oven + grill (or microwave oven plus a toaster separately - still debating), an electric kettle, a steam iron, a tiny rice cooker that is more for decorating purposes, a fan, and some basic, casual kitchenware like a frying pan, a pot, and some dishes and cutlery. Haha, I might actually be able to move in on Dec 15!
Thanks to a friend of mine, who agreed to sponsor a wireless LAN router. Yoohoo, one less thing to worry about!
Afterword:
Now I'm thinking of re-arranging the furniture setting! Gosh that means all the dimensions changed and the fitting is all different now...
