Book: Century Rain by Alastair Reynolds

A friend lent me the book and so I read it. It's a science fiction. The plot begins with a detection story taking place in Paris in the 1950s. Then the story is intertwined with another plot about an archaeologist digging artifacts in a frozen Paris. Things start to fall into place as the plot moves on and the two protagonists cross paths.

I liked the detective plot. The archaeologist plot was confusing and was not the kind of stories I liked. Apparently, my friend who lent me the book liked it, but I didn't. Some sections of the book were quite interesting, but others did not appeal to me. I'd recommend this book only if you've got too much time on your hand...
