Having a long weekend, I anticipated myself to be busily engaged in activities such as hiking and climbing. I turned out to be a lazy bum and stayed home two and a half days out of three. I only went out for BBQ at my ex-boss Daniel's home. To my (horror), there were more kids than grown-ups. I didn't quite realize there could be kids of the next generation at the same party. I guess I must come to realization that I AM getting old afterall!! And there will only be more kids joining the parties. Boy, was I glad I'm not keen on kids. After all that noise and chaos, I maintain my stand that I prefer some personal time to myself. =) Daniel's place was nice. It was sort of like townhouses, with their own garage (without a garage door) and little backyard, and multiple storeys. It definitely reminds me of the good old days in Toronto. It would be a nice place to stay in, given the area for biking and jogging, though it's really in the middle of nowhere (to me anyways).
On the rest of the two days, I finally got to, and finished, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I've been longing to read it and have found time only on this weekend. To my slight disappointment, this book was the most boring in the series. In my opinion, it lacked creativitiy and excitement. I remember when I read the first few books of the series, I couldn't stop reading once I got started. With this one, I couldn't stop reading simply because I knew it would take me another month to finish off if I couldn't finish it within this weekend. It wasn't the plot that had me captured. There have been too many deaths. It's afterall a young adults' book and I don't like the various deaths of some important characters. The way this book was written inevitably leads me into thinking that Rowling has run of ideas for school life in Hogwarts and she had to end it there.
So I got real lazy this weekend. I could've gone climbing on Friday and Sunday nights to the very least. But I even slacked off these two sessions. Don't even mention jogging... Fortunately, I went hiking last week in Sai Kung for Tai Long Wan and the weather was good. There were a bit of clouds and the sun wasn't shining on us. Gotta be more active in the coming days.
