Trains - Toy and Ride

I had a long day at work yesterday. I left work hurriedly, trying to catch the last shuttle bus for home. As I stepped into the train, I saw a toy train left on the seat. I looked out the window, and saw two ladies taking the escalator down with a kid around two years old. While I was trying to make out what had happened and what I should do, the door chimes went off, indicating the doors were about to close. Without hesitation, I grabbed the toy train and dashed past the doors as they closed.

I went down the escalator and asked the ladies if the toy was theirs. They were so delighted to see the toy. One of the ladies said to the kid, "See this? You almost lost another toy!" She then turned to me and thanked me. The other lady also gave me a big smile and thanked me. She asked if I was getting off the train, too. I said, no, I was just getting on the train and saw the toy. The two ladies were even more grateful after hearing my answer. I didn't tell them I risked missing my last shuttle bus by returning the toy to them and missing the train. I didn't think it was necessary because they were already very happy and thankful.

Little things like this make my day. I don't need people to know what I've done, but I'm happy when people show appreciation in return.

And I think if it wasn't for my little nephew, I wouldn't have bothered with turning the toy train to the ladies.
