So here I am, finally, at the hotel room. I’m not sure which is harder to endure, a 20-hour long-haul flight to the States including a domestic connecting flight, or Trailwalker. The first impression I had once I got on my flight was that there was no smile on the UA flight crew. UA never gave me a good impression. And this trip with them didn't change me. The flight was uneventful, except that it was boring, boring, and boring. And the guy next to me just had to keep getting in my way. Well, I got to watch the Blades of Glory. It was a pretty screwed up movie.
After 14 hours, I arrived at the Chicago O’Hare Airport. Aw man. What a slum. Having just departed from the HK airport, a few words came to mind: dark, old, depressing, and worst of all, no free wi-fi. I was only connecting a flight, and I had to go through Customs. Then I had to claim my baggage. Yes, I hate connecting flights in the States. Then I dropped off my baggage again and I started walking towards my next gate. Yikes! A LONG security check line. I finally had the opportunity to take off my shoes for the security check. I’ve heard so much of it but I haven’t been to the States since 9/11. I’m so glad Air
Three hours to stay at the grungy domestic gate before I could board. I was kind of hungry, but I didn’t feel like eating. I read a bit and slept more during my three hour wait. After we boarded the plane, I originally thought I had the whole 3 seats to myself. Then a guy sat next to me. I don’t know why he wouldn’t sit at the window seat instead, but had to sit in the middle seat while leaving the window seat empty and me occupying the aisle seat. That guy was such a creep!! First of all, he smelled. Not being racist here, but you know, certain peoples have certain “scents”. Then as he fell deep asleep, he started crossing over to my space and started touching me a lot (both he and I had our blankets… Or I would’ve screamed already). Eventually his hand kept “approaching” me and I had to push him away so many times. I think he was actually asleep and wasn’t intentional so I didn’t yell at him, but it was very annoying. And for some reason his fingers were always moving and approaching me. ARGH!!!
To cut the diary short, I finally got to the hotel at 2am on Aug 27. I wasn’t greeted by anyone even when I approached the concierge. Anyways. I made it up to my room, but I’m disappointed. Hyatt?! I has a nice LCD or plasma TV (I can’t tell) and a wireless keyboard (which I don’t know what it’s for). Other than that, I see no slippers and nothing fancy. The bathroom isn’t all that impressive either. The most annoying thing is wired internet is chargeable at US$10 a day!! Sheesh… Which era are we in?! And there isn’t even a complimentary breakfast. Then I found something that really pissed me off. I found out that the zipper of my Samsonite suitacase has been cut!!! Damn the

I don't get it. Chicago is your first boarding port in the States?? Then you flew back to Seatle??? Shouldn't it be the other way around??? Usually cities along west coast (Seatle, SF, LA) will be the first boarding port where travellers check in with the customs and take domestic flights to their final destinations. Boarding at Chicago and back to Seatle....what a smart way to earn some extra mileage!!!!
