A 39.5km Day Hike
I finished a 39.5km hike today! We started the hike at 7:20am, and finished at 6:20pm. We took not more than an hour and a half off for breaks or food. We started at Pokfulam, and finished in Big Wave Bay. Our original plan was to follow the 50km Hong Kong Trail. But since we started very early, I couldn't find a way to get to the Victoria Peak, so we compromised by starting 9km down the starting point. It was a cloudy day, with occasional drizzles. There wasn't much sun, nor was there much wind. The Hong Kong Trail is no longer how it used to be. More stone steps have been built to stop the erosion and improve safety. It's now easier, and less natural. It was a nice hike nonetheless. I've never done 39.5km in one day so that was a record. Towards the end, however, I could barely walk. My hiking boots don't fit very well so I now have three blisters on my two feet. I think I also pulled a tendon on the back of my right knee. I can't straighten my leg and I can't walk properly. Tomorrow will have to be a recuperation day.
