You Don't Know What You Don't Know

Do we know what we don't know? It's probably easy for us to realize what we don't know if it's something we're a novice in. What if we think we're very good at something? Are we aware of how much more room there is for improvement? I think it takes someone better or just as good to appreciate another person's achievements. And it takes a humble person who meets a more abled person to admit his own deficiency.

It bothers me when a person doesn't realize what they don't know. It bothers me some more if they have an attitude. Since they don't know what they don't know, they don't realize how shallow, laughable, and ignorant their words or actions are, and they don't register and appreciate the accomplishments that others have made.

But then, who am I to judge others on that? When I say somebody doesn't know what they don' t know, I'm already assuming myself to be more superior than they. So I probably don't know what I don't know, either. Argh! The best bet? Be humble.
